This is a national regulation for occupational therapists, even if your insurance says a referral is not required.
Lymphedema is defined as 'chronic swelling lasting more than 3 months'. The diagnosis code for lymphedema is I89.0. This code is not required for a referral but it is helpful to get compression garments and air pumps covered by insurance.
Please allow 48 hours for our office to call you to schedule. If you believe we should have your referral and you have not yet heard from us, contact us at 720.702.2201 or Lauren.Brown@RMLymph.com
Plan on 45-60 minutes for a thorough evaluation with questions regarding the history of your swelling, prior interventions, exacerbating factors and a hands-on evaluation of the affected body part. You will be educated on different types of interventions and compression garments and you should leave with a reasonable plan for intervention.

Lauren has been providing expert lymphedema services and oncology rehab since 2018. Lauren has extensive experience in treating people of all ages, from birth to end of life with and without cancer diagnoses.
Lauren's goal is to meld current research with functional and practical application of therapy intervention. Your treatment will be individualized to your needs with the goal of optimizing your quality of life.
Lauren was born and raised in Colorado. As a native, the Rocky Mountains have always brought a sense of healing, security and joy. Lauren aims to bring these same values into her treatment so that you, too, can feel a sense of happiness and success.

We treat chronic swelling and the side-effects of cancer treatment. Lymphedema can have multiple causes. While the condition is typically chronic and progressive, if left untreated, symptoms can always be managed.
Side-effects of cancer treatment (related to surgery, radiation and/or chemo) can be lessened with oncology rehab with the goal of improving your quality of life.
Some of these symptoms include:

Treating chronic swelling can:
Decrease pain and swelling
Improve sensation and mobility
Improve quality of life
Treating side-effects of cancer treatment can:
Decrease fatigue
Decrease tightness from scaring/radiation
Improve cognitive function
Decrease chemo induced peripheral neuropathy

Complete decongestive therapy is the gold standard for treating chronic swelling. It includes a decongestion, or shrinking, phase and a long term maintenance phase. Through the process Lauren helps you navigate what will work best for you in the short and long-term.

The side-effects can be specific or generalized. Lauren helps to evaluate what body systems are working well and where you need some support. A treatment plan will be created to your individual needs.

We will help you to understand the different types of compression available, fit you for the compression that is most appropriate for you, and even order these garments.

Lauren has experience working with infants through adolescence with a diagnosis, or probable diagnosis, of primary lymphedema and/or vascular anomalies. Beginning conservative therapy, known as complete decongestive therapy, as early as possible is ideal. Lauren provides education, compression bandaging to decrease the swelling, custom garment measuring and long term management solutions.

Lipedema has long been under-diagnosed, causing a delay in treatment and emotional and physical distress. Generally people find comfort with some of the treatments associated with lymphedema including manual lymph drainage and compression.
